I first spoke with Wendy at the Merion centre in Leeds where she was displaying her industrial landscape prints at the central walkway section in the mid 70s. I had just done a Fine Art degree at the Poly there. We did a swap when she asked me to make a set of mugs the shape of cooling towers. We had a joint exhibition along with Pete Johnson at Trevor Whetstones Breadline Gallery in Rodley, just outside Leeds. Thanks to Wendy I met & spent a lot of time with her delightful, creative & musical lodger Marion. It was also thanks to her we found accommodation through Phyl Lees at Haigh Hall as tenants of the Norburys whilst studying at Bretton College in 1978 and again through Elspeth & Sandor when I moved to Ilkley to work at Mick Shones Wood Rhydding Pottery after completing my studies. I lived in the house of Francoise & Ian Hodder - now world renowned archaeologists who generously gave me a room rent free for a few months. Wendy was always a delight - her art, her music, her dinners, her vibrant company & striking presence.... I still make my mugs in the cooling tower shape - It's the best one could imagine for such everyday vessels an amazingly stable & attractive form.

Wendy was a colleague of mine at Thornhill Middle School, Leeds back in the 1980s I believe. She was a fun person and I loved her work, in fact I have just had one of her pen and ink works framed "view from my attic window" in Burley where she lived.. I was saddened to hear of her passing....in fact I only found out in 2017 Alun Pugh, Headingley Leeds a.apugh@ntlworld.com

I met Wendy at Br.etton Hall in 1970. We were both on the same course. Outdoor parties in the gardens of her halls of residence evoke memories of Wendy dancing, twirling and weaving through the trees. Sadly we lost touch when she moved to Scotland. Reading about Wendy and her creative, inventive and amazing life in Scotland has made me think how could I have been so careless to lose such a good friend I still treasure some of the prints she made of townscapes in Burley, Leeds and her very happy etchings of snowdrops, anemones and yellow chrysanthemums. My condolences go to her partner, her family. and her friends. Dawn
