CAMPBELL Peacefully, on Monday, April 8, 2024, Alan Grant Campbell CBE (former Chief Executive of Grampian Region and Aberdeenshire Councils). Dearly loved husband of Susie, much loved father of Louisa, Simon and Lucy and adored Papa to his seven grandchildren. Funeral Service in Fountainhall Church at the Cross on Friday, April 19, at 1pm. All friends respectfully invited. No flowers please. Donations can be given at the church for Friends of Roxburghe House and Cancer Research UK.

Belatedly I learn of Alan's passing.
He was a great friend to me when our paths crossed whilst I was CEO of the Chamber of Commerce in Aberdeen. Our shared ambition to see the NE continue to prosper beyond the oil and gas chapter brought us together in many fora and countless projects. His balanced view, historic perspective and wider gaze beyond the local politics was always refeshing context to the many challenges we tried to steer the region through.
Beyond my time at the Chamber, Alan and I remained great friends and I only learned of his health issues through our sadly less frequent contacts since I moved back to Ayrshire 6 years ago.
His confession was couched in typical Alan terms - "I thought I would tell you once I was cured". That was not to be and we traded farewell messages just a few days before he passed away.
I will remember him fondly and always valued his friendship and cheery demeanour.
My condolences to the family.

Alan was my Chief Executive for a number of years at Aberdeenshire. A great colleague and someone who always gave support and advice which I valued greatly. Alan did so much for Aberdeenshire and was recognised across the area. I came across him again when he was a member of the Accounts Commission.Local Government has lost a great ambassador.
Thoughts to all Alan’s family at this difficult time.
