I was made most welcome in the home of Vic & Jessie Cruickshank in 1976. In “digs” and on a steep learning curve to become, eventually, a successful science teacher. Jessie fell victim to cancer. I remember two young daughters but their names escape me. Moira and ? I remember, after becoming a qualified teacher, calling in past to visit in the 1980s. Jessie offered me my tea which I accepted gratefully but reluctantly. It was Vic’s tea. He didn’t complain when he came home! We kept in regular touch but only via Christmas cards - and then I lost touch with Vic. Only now have I learned of Vic’s death. Vic and Jessie welcomed me into their home as one of the family. I wanted to express my thanks in writing and to offer belated condolences to the family. Bill Maxwell.
