Katie and I were very sorry to learn - we did wonder about no Christmas card - of Ken's death. He stayed with us for two periods while he was doing doctoral research at the World Council of Churches in Geneva. It was a joy to have him with us on both occasions. I especially enjoyed being reminded of what it was to be a PhD student again! He was very good at his work and it was delightful seeing it build over the times he was with us. It is, of course, a shame that this could not be completed but perhaps it will be picked up by someone in due course - the topic and the person involved are very worth the effort. He was very appreciative of my cooking and wine selection - which is a guaranteed way to ensure a warm and continuing welcome. It was also really nice to be introduced to his Oxford family. My first wife died in Aberdeen and Ken was especially kind in going to the Crematorium on that year's 3rd December to take a photo of the page - by now 25 years later - on which her name and quote from Psalm 27 are recorded. It will do very well for Ken, as well: One thing I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. With many happy memories of a remarkable man. Peter
