BERG Arthur Richard Berg, retired lecturer of Botany, University of Aberdeen, passed away, May 13, 2021, in the devoted care of Links Unit, Woodend, with family at his side. A loving and much loved husband to Nancy, father to Susan, Arthur and David, beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. Due to Covid restrictions funeral private.
03 June 2021 It was with some sadness that I learned that Arthur has died. I offer my condolences to his family whom I did not meet. I worked with Arthur during my thirty plus years at Aberdeen including the Access Biology Course which we both taught for a long while. It was a rewarding venture that we valued as an important part of our teaching duties.
We also regularly travelled together on the bus from Aberdeen to Cults/Bieldside and had a lot convivial conversation on the slow journey home.
We lived through the Thatcher years that changed everything in the university but somehow survived with our commitment to teaching intact. Arthur was a loyal colleague and good company.
Rest easy my friend.
Remembering ...
Alexander Arthur
20 May 2021 I remember Arthur as a committed and valued UCU member, who was involved in the committee a little before my time as Branch President.
I was sorry to hear of his going.
Best Wishes,
