KANE Margaret Ewing (nee Meldrum), after the peaceful passing of my mother at home, on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, I would like to extend my thanks to all those who cared for her, particularly in those last few weeks. The pandemic has prevented me, her daughter Catherine, from travelling. In respect of my mother I have arranged my own 'light a candle' tribute taking place in Washington DC, on Friday, January 29, at 2.30pm GMT. I invite you to light a candle at this time and remember the spirit of my mother. In this way we can all honour Margaret together, wherever we are in the world.
29 January 2021 Although we met briefly only once, I am writing to honour you and to thank you for your daughter Cath.
Love and peace

27 January 2021 What a beautiful way to honour your mother’s memory.
I’m sure she would appreciate the shared tribute from what I think will be many.
The children and I will certainly join in by lighting a special candle, they always enjoyed spending time with Margaret, and Gordon too
of course!
Sending love to all that feel her loss but especially to you, wishing we could be with you.

27 January 2021 The pandemic has made endings so much harder. As many of you know, my mum, my father and grandparents ran the family butcher business together. My grandparents started the business in Stockethill in the 1950's. They opened the shop in the Tillydrone Shopping Centre (in the 1970's) and were there until the late 1980's. They were at the heart of the community, everybody knew ‘Kane the Butcher'. We couldn’t walk down the street without bumping into someone we knew. In fact a friend in Edinburgh text me today to share a memory of bumping into mum and dad years ago, in Edinburgh Airport. Margaret and Gordon were good company, good fun and loved by many.
I am creating a private collection of memories of mum and dad. Please do get in touch with me directly if you want to share.
I also invite you to leave a message or assist one of our community elders to leave a message. Many of mum and dad's friends won't be on social media. I imagine messages coming from all over the world, international and inter-generational.
