As Jeannie says, we always knew Bill as Uncle Willie, our Dad's brother. I remember when I was a child he used to come to our house in Newark. He was in the RAF and I think he must have been stationed somewhere not far from Newark. I remember he was very clever at making things out of wood and he used to make these intricate puzzles of interlocking pieces of wood. I suppose they were an eco forerunner of the Rubiks cube. I was fascinated by them.
We used to come to Scotland and stay with Grannie and Grandad Simpson at Lammerwells and later Putachie Cottage and also with Auntie Lila and Uncle Willie at Bedford Place. I have very fond memories of those times and also of when they came to stay with Mum and Dad in Newark. Happy memories, a long time ago but, rest assured, not forgotten. Love to Auntie Lila Mhairi, David and Ailsa.

We will always fondly remember Bill as our U. Willie, Dad’s much loved brother and our much loved uncle. Though we were miles apart and seldom saw one another U. Willie was always close in our thoughts and prayers. We have many happy memories of times spent together. I recall the excitement when he brought A. Lila to visit for the first time. I kept a rose from their wedding cake for years in a little box!
You will be much missed U. Willie
Much love to A. Lila, Mhairi, David and Ailsa
