ARTHUR (Tain) Very suddenly, but peacefully, in his home, 9 Culpleasant Avenue, Tain, on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, James "Jim" Arthur, aged 93 years, "Ross-shire's Grand Old Man of Brass" (formerly of The Grove, High Street, Tain and Port Glasgow). Beloved husband of Shona, a much loved father of Alex, Ruth, Shona, George and Jean, a loving grandpa, great grandpa, great great grandpa, a dear father-in-law, dearly loved brother of the late Ruth and Iain and loved by all the extended family and friends. Funeral service will take place, on Tuesday, September 22, in St. Duthus New Cemetery, Tain at 1pm. For those wishing to pay their last respects, the funeral cortegé will leave from the family home at 12.30pm, thereafter coming along Tain High Street on the way to St Duthus New Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to the funeral, or donations, if so desired may be given at the service for The Salvation Army or by post to Alasdair Rhind, Funeral Directors Sutherland House, Bank Street, Tain or by bacs to:rbs - s/c 83-27-35, a/c 00254580 Ref - The Late James Arthur.

Thank you Jim for all the time an help you gave me when I was learning music. I was an easily distracted primary school kid, but you always were so patient and kind..and you made every lesson such fun. Every time I hear a brass band, I think fondly of you. Rest well Sir. Erica

Thank you for all the love, care and advice you gave me as a young boy. There have been many times in my life where I’ve heard your voice reminding me to do what is right. I made it to Canada and I can see why you loved it so much. The funeral via zoom was beautiful. God bless you and enjoy your beautiful new instrument in Heaven.
