DUNCAN (Knockando/Aberlour) Very peacefully at Speyside Care Home, Aberlour, on Saturday, May 23, 2020, Mary Smith, aged 88 years. Beloved wife of the late Robbie Duncan of Knockanrioch, dearly loved mam of Hazel, Ian, Marion, Maureen and the late Bob and Jane. A much loved granny, great-granny, sister, auntie and friend of many. Regrettably, funeral private due to current health guidelines.

Memories of my friendship with Mary

This is what I wrote about Mary in 2007 to go with the work she did for my friendship quilt - "This is writing done by Mary, Mary Duncan, who now lives in Aberlour in north Scotland. When I spent my teenage years in Knockando nearby, my mum and Mary were close friends, partly through their membership of the SWRI. Even after my mum died, we kept in contact with Mary and her husband Robbie, who were local farmers and they even looked after Gail on one of the occasions when I had to stay in Aberdeen Infirmary with son Philip.(and made scotch pancakes for her in the shape of a G!) Robbie has now also died but Mary and I have always kept in touch and I love to visit whenever I’m in Aberlour to visit my parents’ grave." Barbara Jones, nee Solomon
