I got to know Adam when I worked in Building Standards at Aberdeen City Council and fondly remember our meetings of the Grampian Building Control Forum and also numerous meetings of the Chief Building Standards Group over the years. I enjoyed Adam’s friendship and my memory is of a friendly, helpful colleague who was always there to give advice and help. I was lucky to meet, quite by chance, Adam and his wife at HM Theatre last year where we had a short time to catch up with each other. My thoughts are with his family at this time. Philip and Patricia Mann from Keith wish to convey our sincerest sympathy to Elaine and Adam’s children and their respective families on the death of their beloved Adam. This sad news has reached us via our friend in Shetland and we know how much Shetland means to both Adam and Elaine. It’s a very special place. Adam was a very kind and friendly man and his helpful and pragmatic approach to problems was always much appreciated when we both had to take his advice professionally during his time with building control- a life certainly well lived XX
