BAIN Andrew Bain, born January 29, 1933, died December 16, 2019, aged 86 years. Carpenter with Aberdeen Council and a violin maker, artist, archaeologist and historian. Born in Assam, India - his father an engineer from Cromarty who worked for the tea plantations and his mother from the local Khasi tribe. Andrew moved to Scotland when he was teenager and lived in Dundee (where he did his apprenticeship as a carpenter). He lived in Dundee with the Reverend John Tennant of Aberlour, a minister of the church of Scotland. He moved to Rugby, England in 2013 to be with his brother James. Andrew died in Overslade House care home in Rugby last month and was given exemplary care by the staff there. Andrew had no family of his own but had 4 nephews and nieces in England and 6 more in India. He also has a sister, Flora in India. He spent 40 years of his life surveying and mapping stone circles in Aberdeenshire and was even given permission by English Heritage to survey Stonehenge. He was loved and admired by all who knew him and has left us all with happy memories.
