GATE Howard Barton Gate passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves behind his wife Janie, daughters Eleanor, Sarah, Emily, Mhairi and Laura, his step children Grant and Rochelle and his beloved grandchildren Isla, Elizabeth, Catriona and James. He was born in Workington, Cumbria and went on to study medicine in Edinburgh. He moved to the Highlands with his first wife Mairi who sadly predeceased him. He had been a well respected GP at Strathpeffer Medical Practice for 26 years and had been living in Aberdeenshire during his retirement. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. His funeral will be held at 11am, on Friday, February 1, at St Ninian's Church in Turriff, AB53 4AT.

I will always remember my dads laugh, his huge smile and his ability to make the worlds best jambalaya! He shone with pride for us all and his love for his grandchildren knew no bounds! I will miss you so much dad but know you are at peace with our loved ones Miss and love you always Sarah

The first time i met Howard he had more in common with my twin( cars and guns). I knew then on it would be an uphill struggle. Howard did not know me well at the start but after i swindled his ear away from my non interests he warmed to me and we found lots in common, just being around each other. The lovely girls, Ellie, Sarah, Emily, Mhairi and Laura are all phenomenal achievers in life and in love. Janie supported Howard throughout with support from her children too. I will miss Howard for his knowledge, stories and the promise of the lucrative drive in his nice car. I think Alistair was the only one to get a shot. 😊 hopefully Alistair will giggle at this. Howard Barton was a lovely man in deed.
