THOMSON Peacefully, at Hawkhill House Care Home, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, George, aged 89, beloved husband of Jean, father of Kay, devoted papa to Lyle and Lydia and father-in-law of Lawrence. A funeral service will be held in Gordon and Watson's Chapel, 30 Rosebank Place, Aberdeen, AB11 6XP, on Friday, October 12, at 10 a.m., to which all family and friends are respectfully invited. One of life's real characters

I only recently learned of George's passing. Though I hadn't seen him for around 30 years, George was one of life's genuine and beloved characters that left his mark on me. His jokes, his anecdotes, his wicked sense of humour, and his true love for his family all stick with me to this day. I met George when he was a "senior agnecy inspector" at Standard Life in Aberdeen in the 80s. Rest in Peace, George.

One of a Kind

George was one of the members of staff at Standard Life who made me so welcome when I moved to Aberdeen all those years ago. He was involved in my training and although I may not have learnt much about the technicalities of life assurance, George taught me a lot about how to deal with people - in his own unique fashion ! I will never forget him, he was a joy to know.
