CRUICKSHANK (Africa) It is with great sadness the family of John Maitland Cruickshank announce his sudden death on May 27, 2011, en route from Lusaka, Zambia to Johannesburg ,South Africa, for medical treatment. John, 82 years was a loving father of Johnny and Susan, a caring grandfather of Amanda, Calum and Felicity, a devoted partner to Brigita Gibson, elder brother of George, Richard, Margaret and Joyce. A former pupil and dux medallist of Ruthrieston Secondary School, John trained in accountancy at Galloway Brown Chartered Accountants, Aberdeen, and moved to Lusaka in 1955, he became a senior partner of Peat Marwick Accountants, Zambia, and a director of numerous companies in Lusaka. Cremated in Johannesburg, his ashes were returned to Lusaka, his home for the past 56 years, to be scattered on Lake Tanganyika where he enjoyed a lifelong pastime of fishing. John will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Rest in peace.
