STRACHAN Peacefully, in the early hours of Tuesday, June 22, 2010, after an illness bravely and courageously borne, John Sim Strachan slipped into the presence of his beloved Saviour. Darling husband of Betty, wonderful father to Elizabeth, Grace, Lois and John, father-in-law, adored granddad to 14 grandchildren and treasured Pastor to many. Service of thanksgiving at 11 a.m., at Kings Community Church, King Street, Aberdeen, on Friday, June 25, thereafter committal at the Inverallochy Cemetery, at 1.30 p.m.

Grateful memory of John

Liisa Kingma

John was such a wonderful colleague in the Blind School in Kabul and great to work with when he was teaching men and I (Liisa) caring for women from autumn 1968 onwards. What celebrations there were, the Lord knows. John was grounded in the Word of God, a man of prayer and centered on Jesus. Together John and Betty with the wonderful children were real family friends to both of us during our time in changing situations. PTL and thank you, dear Betty and family. May the God of all comfort be close to you these days and bless you. Some of the songs in Dari that John was singing are ringing in our ears. "I am the Resurrection and the Life", Jesus said.
