MACKENZIE On Monday, June 6, 2022, Robina Ann MacKenzie (Bina, nee Norquoy) passed away aged 93 at Meadowlark Care Home, Forres. Born and raised in the village of St Marys, Orkney, Bina met her husband John when he was dismantling the wartime facilities on the islands. The couple were wed in Kirkwall and settled into married life in Burghead. Mother to four children, Ian (late), Sheena, Hazel, and Elizabeth. Bina found time for employment at Johnstons of Elgin, and also ran a bed and breakfast when the family lived on Grant Street. A talented knitter, Bina was also a great cook and baker, with her fish soup being a family favourite. Bina enjoyed a very active retirement. She was a founder member of the Moray Walking Group, and the Ballroom Dances which are still held in Elgin Town Hall. She loved music and Scottish country dancing, but her favourite was the tango. Bina loved to travel. She and John visited their family in New Zealand, Australia and Mauritius. With the walking group she went to Europe and her beloved Orkney. Sadly, the swift on-set of dementia in June, 2020, saw Bina taken into the care of Meadowlark. Her love of music and dancing continued to shine through her illness. Bina is survived by her daughters Sheena, Hazel and Elizabeth, and several generations of loving grandchildren. The funeral will take place at Meadow Hillock Chapel, Burghead, on Monday, June 13, at 2pm, under the care of Daniel Ralph & Family Funeral Directors. Family flowers only.
