HEPBURN Friday 31ST July 2020 Our Golden Wedding Celebration planned for Speyside had to be abandoned but we had a wonderful day nevertheless. The morning of the 31st brought an avalanche of cards and eight bouquets and the gloriously warm evening found us arriving in Sally and William's garden to be serenaded by a Dollar Academy Pipe Band Trio (Rory, Poppy and Maddie) playing 'Highland Cathedral'. Champagne cocktails, fun and laughter ensued, followed by surprise 'virtual appearances' with songs, poems, warm wishes and comedy turns from family and friends around the country. A delicious dinner concluded with speeches from Sandy, Janice, Wilma, Steven and Anneli. Highlights included Heather's Garioch Scots renderings: Billy's (who else!) hilarious Doric 'Treatise on a Golden Wedding' and Anne Hourston's collection of lively comments from former pupils we taught at Inverurie Academy (a great school) in 1970. We were overwhelmed by the warm messages, the lovely contributions, the kindness and generosity of family and old friends especially from Inverurie and Elgin. Heartfelt thanks, Janice and Sandy Hepburn Dunblane
