01 March 2018 Ian was a fine crofter, shepherd, deerstalker. When he was in his twenties and I was a young teenager, he inspired in me a great love for the hills which grew into a great love of mountaineering. We exchanged Christmas cards for 50 years and he visited our family in Vancouver. When his annual Christmas cards stopped I wondered what had happened to him. Now I know, and I miss him. I was hoping to visit him one more time before he died.
